Equal Justice Works Law School Awards
Equal Justice Works annually honors the outstanding public interest contributions of a law school faculty or staff member dedicated to public interest law and the exemplary public service work of a law student and a law student group or project.
Nominations may be self-appointed or coming from any person or group that knows the nominee well. This includes but is not limited to: deans; law school career services and public interest counselors; advisors, faculty, clinical professors, students, student groups and extern/intern supervisors.
The 2010 awards will be presented at the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair in Washington, D.C. on October 22 or 23, and at the Equal Justice Works Awards Dinner on October 21.
John R Kramer Outstanding Law School Dean Award
ELIGIBILITY
- The law school dean must preside over an Equal Justice Works member school during the 2009-2010 academic year.
- The award recipient must be available to receive the award in person on Thursday, October 21, 2010. Equal Justice Works will provide all transportation and lodging for award winners.
AWARDS CRITERIA
The Outstanding Law School Dean award is named for John R. Kramer, who embodied the spirit of public service during his tenure. This award honors a dean who has successfully demonstrated leadership in building an institution that nurtures and fortifies a spirit of public service during his or her tenure at an Equal Justice Works participating member law school.
Completed nominations are due no later than July 9, 2010 at 5 p.m. EDT.
Outstanding Law School Faculty or Staff Award
ELIGIBILITY
- The law school faculty or staff member must be employed at an Equal Justice Works member law school during the 2009-2010 school year.
- The award recipient must be available to receive the award in person on Friday or Saturday, October 22 or 23, 2010. Equal Justice Works will provide all transportation and lodging for award winners.
AWARDS CRITERIA
The Outstanding Law School Faculty or Staff Award recognizes an up-and-coming law school faculty or staff member for his or her outstanding support and innovative approaches to public interest law. The nominee will have demonstrated a commitment to increasing awareness and participation of public interest law programming.
Completed nominations are due no later than July 9, 2010 at 5 p.m. EDT.
Exemplary Public Service Award for a Student Group or Project
ELIGIBILITY
- Members of the student group must attend an Equal Justice Works member law school during the 2009-2010 school year.
- The work of the student must have been accomplished prior to the nominee’s graduation.
- The award recipient must be available to receive the award in person on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, October 21, 22 or 23, 2010. Equal Justice Works will provide all transportation and lodging for award winners.
AWARDS CRITERIA
The Exemplary Public Service Award for a Student or Student Group recognizes the work of an individual student or student group that utilizes an innovative approach to meeting the needs of an underserved or marginalized person or community.
Completed nominations are due no later than July 9, 2010 at 5 p.m. EDT.
