ANNOUNCEMENTS
Equal Justice Works Law Schools
This last year was extraordinary for our organization and for the causes and communities we serve. We supported 171 lawyers and 350 law students in the field – one of our largest classes ever. We made substantial progress in reducing the educational debt barrier to public service careers with the passage of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act. We launched the second edition of The E-Guide to Public Service at America’s Law Schools. And, just recently, we achieved a long-term goal of expanding our presence on the West Coast by opening an office in San Francisco.
We made more than 33 presentations on law school campuses and in March distributed recruitment materials on Equal Justice Works opportunities for your students. The number of applicants for our Summer Corps program alone broke previous records and came in at over 770. Our Conference and Career Fair last fall was one of our most successful ever and continues to evolve.
All of this is made possible with your support of our mission – to mobilize the next generation of lawyers committed to equal justice – and of our work on campuses, in law firms, and at legal services organizations around the country.
Equal Justice Works Guide to Law Schools
The third edition of the Equal Justice Works Guide to Law Schools (formerly The E-Guide to Public Service at America’s Law Schools) will be published spring 2009. As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the Guide, over the past year we have taken several steps to improve the survey instrument and online design to make this edition an essential resource for both law schools and prelaw students.
With the assistance of our technical partner in this project, the independent research firm Harris Interactive, we solicited feedback on previous editions, simplified the survey instrument, and designed a more user-friendly website.
In December 2008, Harris Interactive sent invitations to participate in the 2009 edition of the Guide along with a link to the online survey and a unique administrative password to all accredited law schools. The online survey will remain open for data entry through February 9, 2009.
Thank you participating in the Guide. We’re confident that it will be the most successful ever.
