Q: How do I renew my membership?
A: From July 1 to August 29, 2008, schools may commit to a membership level by completing the online membership application form . Schools can upgrade their level of membership at any time during the membership year by contacting Membership at membership@equaljusticeworks.org .
Q: Is there a defined membership year?
A: Yes. The membership year begins each year on July 1st and ends on June 30th of the following year. Benefits and services available through membership are provided to Equal Justice Works member law schools during that time.
Q: Does a law school have to be accredited by the American Bar Association in order to be a member?
A: No, American Bar Association accreditation is not a criterion for membership.
Q: What are the benefits of membership?
A: All member schools receive a set of core benefits; as schools increase their membership, their benefits expand (see Membership Levels ). Additionally, by joining Equal Justice Works, a school demonstrates its commitment to public interest service to students, alumni, donors and the legal community.
Q: Is eligibility to apply for Equal Justice Works programs tied to membership?
A:Yes. To be eligible for the following programs, the applicant's law school must be an Equal Justice Works member during the 2008 - 2009 membership year:
2008 - 2009 AmeriCorps Legal Fellows Program
2009 Equal Justice Works Fellowships
2009 Summer Corps
Q: How is program eligibility determined for a law graduate who has been out of law school for several years?
A: The graduate's alma mater law school must be an Equal Justice Works member at the time of the program application.
Q: When is payment for membership due?
A: Payment is due in full by August 29, 2008.
Q: Are services available á la carte?
A: Although the benefits structure has been designed to meet the needs of most law schools, á la carte pricing is available for select Equal Justice Works services, including additional reduced Career Fair & Conference registration fees, Awards Dinner tickets, and Fair program book advertisements.
