Track of your hours on a daily basis using the time log provided by Equal Justice Works in the
Summer Corps Application Manager.
A maximum of 20 percent (60 hours) of the 300 hours of service may be used to train or educate the member or for other similar activities, such as orientation, training by the host site or professional development activities. NOTE: Direct service to clients or participation in community outreach and education (i.e., training or education by the member) is not considered training or education of the member.
Be sure to record training hours separately from service hours. For example, a member who spends half of an eight-hour day in training and the other half providing direct services would mark on his/her time log that he/she had completed four training hours and four service hours for that day. Please note that training hours refer to training that a member receives, not training a member conducts for others. Because your supervisor is obligated to provide you with an orientation before you begin service, your first hours logged should be training hours.
