The Project

My project is focused on helping Asian Americans modify their loans, stay foreclosure proceedings, pursue foreclosure scams, and defend against unlawful detainers filed against tenants. Because I can speak Cantonese, I am responsible for reaching out to the entire Cantonese-speaking region of Southern California.

Law school:

Making the connection:

The connection between advancing social justice and law school came to fruition during my sophomore year of undergraduate studies when I took a course on human rights. It's discovering the idea that while the law can advocate for rights, social justice is what can protect human dignity.

Surviving law school:

There are always opportunities to participate in public service, but it's actively staying up-to-date with civil rights violations through various news sources and modern media outlets that has made it incredibly easy to remain passionate about public interest law.

Recommended books:

Woman: An Intimate Geography by Natalie Angier. This book provides a very scientific analysis on evolutionary biology through an anthropological perspective about being female/a woman. It merges second wave and third wave feminism with poetry and science.

The Velveteen Rabbit. While it's a child's book, it highlights a lot of issues people and communities still deal with as outsiders. The simplicity of the message and the truth behind what is "real" inspires readers to remain true to oneself.

Favorite website(s): This is a website completely dedicated to television-snark. Reality is tough and this website helps alleviate stress with gut-wrenching hilarity and brain candy. I actually have all my nonprofit updates linked to my twitter account. I check regularly to stay current on legal changes in constitutional and international law.
