The Project

The Legal Aid Society is a nonprofit civil legal assistance program in Washington, D.C., providing legal representation on a range of issues including consumer, housing, public benefits, domestic violence and family law. In the Consumer Unit at Legal Aid, Jennifer engaged in a range of activities to assist low-income individuals and families to prevent the loss of a home through foreclosure or foreclosure-related fraud. Jennifer’s work included engaging in community education and outreach, client counseling, negotiation with lenders, and litigation.
