The Project

The project will be to help with homeless prevention in the Gainesville, Florida area by helping people stay in their homes or shelters. I will be providing educational and community outreach opportunities for the benefit of the community. I want to educate people on their rights, try to assist them to stay in their homes or improve their living conditions. I will also inform the community of the local resources available as well as encourage the community to extend a hand to help reduce homelessness and hunger.

Law school:

Making the connection:

I decided to go to law school because of my mother. English is her second language and often didn't understand her rights and there were few with the patience to explain to her. I wanted to make a difference to people like her by showing patience and understanding to those who are limited in resources and education. After meeting the AmeriCorps fellows and those who are involved in the community, I became interested in public interest. I want to do what I can to help the community and improve the living conditions of those who need it the most.

Surviving law school:

In order to survive law school, you must treat it like a job. You must force yourself into a studying schedule. Once you slack off a little bit, it's nearly impossible to catch up. Also, law school can be very stressful. You must find a way to release your stress through hobbies or exercising. And it's a great time to meet friends.
