The Inspiration

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionI did not grow up thinking that I would be a lawyer but I knew that I wanted to help people in some way. Throughout my life I saw the injustices that people faced in all aspects of their lives. So when I made the decision to go to law school I naturally gravitated towards public service.

The Project

My project at OneJustice seeks to fill legal services gaps in rural California through the Justice Bus Program. Justice Bus Trips provide a bridge between under-resourced nonprofit organizations and committed law students. The program provides the students with training and connects them with the organization and the clients that need their help. My project also involves providing support and assistance to the Pro Bono Managers of Southern California and working with them to maximize their legal resources.

Biography

Hometown:

Los Angeles, California

Law school:

Surviving law school:

No matter what you want to do with your legal degree it is important to get out of the classroom and get as much as experience as you can, whether it is internships, volunteering, or research projects. It is also important to meet people who have made it past the law school and bar examination hurdle. Both provide perspective and can be a great resource of knowledge and advice.

Recommended books:

The Harry Potter Series, need I say more? The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, an easy read with a great message. My real recommendation is to simply browse through a book store or your local library and see what piques your interest. That is how I have discovered some really great books.

Favorite website(s):

Yelp, the best tool when you are in a new location or looking for something new. Food.com, the best source for recipes because the recipes come from real people with their reviews and personal photos.

Words to live by:

Travel, whether it is the next town over or the other side of the world. Experience as many new things as you can. And simply try to leave this world a little better than how you found it.
