The Project

The Veterans Project at the Northwest Justice Project provides free legal services to financially eligible low income and homeless veterans for civil legal problems that are barriers to housing, employment, and self-sufficiency. We provide legal advice, representation, and referrals on a variety of civil legal issues. Our priority areas of legal service reflect the demands of our population. Currently, our focus areas are: child support, vacating criminal convictions, drivers' license suspensions and revocations, consumer law, landlord/tenant law, and discharge upgrades.

The Inspiration

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Prior to law school, I was a social worker for several years, working both with homeless adults receiving mental health services and with homeless LGBT youth and young adults. Not surprisingly, veterans could be found in both these populations, including younger veterans who served more recently. I very much enjoy working one-on-one with veterans to address their civil legal issues, as well as doing community outreach and thinking more systemically.
