The Project

The justice AmeriCorps program aims to increase levels of legal representation among the Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) population in immigration removal proceedings. Direct representation is provided to children who did not have an initial immigration hearing prior to January 2, 2015 and who were age 15 and under at the time their removal proceedings began. Pro bono capacity building is provided for the general UAC population in the immigration court location where the member serves. Capacity building includes mentoring and training of attorneys who provide pro bono representation to UACs in immigration and related state court proceedings.
