The Project

Promote physical and mental health and provide stability for children whose families are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in Washington, DC through legal representation, outreach and advocacy.

The Inspiration

Need Addressed By Project:
Homelessness is a traumatic experience for children that impacts all areas of their development. Children experiencing homelessness are more likely than their peers to suffer from developmental delays, chronic illnesses, mental health challenges, learning disabilities and behavioral difficulties. Where homelessness is threatening a child’s physical and mental health, families need a wide range of legal advocacy.
The Right Person For This Project:
Diana is the right person for the project because:
• In law school, she advocated for children and families in the child welfare, education, and juvenile justice systems while also earning a dual degree in social work
• Prior to law school, she worked with children at a domestic violence shelter, where she saw the crucial role of safety and stability in promoting children’s healthy development
