The Project

Provide legal representation for immigrant minors who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected by at least one parent. The minors are provided with legal representation in immigration court and assistance with applications for legal status.

The Inspiration

Need Addressed By Project
The basic legal needs of a very vulnerable population are addressed by this project. Dealing with a new language and new laws in a new country is an enormous burden on the clients, most of whom have very modest means. This project directly addresses the gaps in language and legal knowledge faced by the clients. Historically, respondents in immigration courts have a far better success rate when represented by counsel.
The Right Person For This Project
Jeremy is the right person for the project because:
• He cares deeply about the issues the project addresses
• He thinks the United States should always remain welcoming to immigrant populations, especially those fleeing widespread gang violence and warfare
• He believes the American Dream should be available to everyone, no matter where they were born
