The Project

Provide holistic civil legal help, in a trauma-informed manner, to promote stability for veterans in St. Louis by starting a legal aid Veterans Project, involving pro bono assistance.

The Inspiration

Need Addressed By Project
Veterans are in dire need of vigorous trauma-informed advocacy on their behalf in areas such as housing, public benefits, education, domestic violence, and consumer issues. Veterans’ household members often need legal help to ease the burden on the military person. A centralized, veteran-oriented project at LSEM will be a resource for different groups of veterans in St. Louis, making navigation of this complicated landscape much easier for veterans and their families.
The Right Person For This Project

Sarah is the right person for the project because:
• She developed a trauma-informed background working in and researching education law and juvenile justice issues
• She has demonstrated commitment to public interest work in the St. Louis region through participation in the Civil Rights, Community Justice, and Mediation Clinic and the Children’s Rights Clinic at Washington University School of Law
• She is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans and their families
