The Inspiration

Need Addressed By Project
Building capacity of tenant organizations by engaging in leadership development, education, and outreach work. Together with the tenants, the project will develop plans to address issues related to poor housing conditions, mismanagement, and loss of affordability. This project helps tenants understand their rights and responsibilities as renters so they can maintain safe, secure, and affordable housing.
The Right Person For This Project

With a background in community practice social work and human rights, Ivory is passionate about access to affordable housing which allows tenants to live with security and in dignity.

As a child and in adulthood, Ivory has lived in Section 8 and Public Housing. She has personally experienced the hardships of homelessness and housing insecurity. Ivory is able to work with tenants as someone who has shared similar experiences and can empathize with some of the situations they may be facing. Ivory thinks this is an important aspect of doing community work-being of the community.
