SEATTLE'S SUDHA SHETTY HONORED FOR
LEADERSHIP OF ACCESS TO JUSTICE INSTITUTE


WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 19, 2006) – Sudha Shetty, Former Director of the Access to Justice Institute at Seattle University School of Law, will be honored by Equal Justice Works during the organization's 2006 Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 19, 2006 in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Shetty will receive the "Outstanding Law School Professional Award" for enhancing the culture of public service at Seattle University School of Law through her leadership of the Access to Justice Institute. Through the institute, Ms. Shetty increased the law school's public interest opportunities and student involvement in public service projects. She created the Community Justice Center Project, which serves three of Seattle's traditionally underserved neighborhoods with free legal advice and education. Ms. Shetty also helped establish the institute's multiple student-driven legal service projects and training sessions.

Equal Justice Works creates and supports public interest law opportunities for law students and lawyers. The 2006 Equal Justice Works Awards Dinner is the nation's largest gathering of public interest law supporters and recognizes extraordinary achievements in this field. The dinner will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.
