EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS HOSTS LARGEST NATIONAL

PUBLIC INTEREST LAW CONFERENCE AND CAREER FAIR

OCTOBER 6 AND 7 IN WASHINGTON, DC

 

What:

Each October more than 1,500 public interest-minded law students, law graduates, law school professionals and public interest employers gather in Washington, D.C. for this two-day event. The Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair includes interviewing for permanent and summer positions, skills building and career advising sessions with experts from around the country, as well as workshops on effective public interest organizing strategies. Highlights include:

  • Plenary session featuring Sister Helen Prejean, anti-death penalty activist and author of Dead Man Walking and The Death of Innocents.
  • Awards Luncheon honoring law school heroes who have demonstrated their commitment to justice: Dean Karen Rothenberg, University of Maryland School of Law; Professor Ilene Seidman, Suffolk University Law School; and Gavan Meehan, Class of 2007, University of Connecticut School of Law. 
  • More than 1,000 law students and graduates interviewing with more than 145 public interest employers including the American Bar Association, American Civil Liberties Union, the United States Government and numerous state and regional legal aid organizations.
