CLOROX GENERAL COUNSEL LAURA STEIN JOINS BOARD OF EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS | |

Equal Justice Works announced today that Laura Stein, Senior Vice President - General Counsel for The Clorox Company, has joined its board of directors. Ms. Stein's many years of corporate experience are complemented by a strong commitment to social justice. She co-chairs the Corporate Pro Bono Advisory Board and provides pro bono services to the Family Violence Law Center. At Clorox, she leads Clorox's Support, Heart and Opportunity for Women group and co-sponsors Clorox's corporate social responsibility program, among other responsibilities. Ms. Stein previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for H.J. Heinz Company from 2000-2005, where she was president of the Global Organization for the Advancement of Leadership for Women and a director of the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation. Prior to that, she was Assistant General Counsel for regulatory affairs at Clorox. Ms. Stein was also previously a lawyer with the law firm Morrison & Foerster LLP. Ms. Stein is chair of the board of the Association of Corporate Counsel; chair of the ABA Asia Rule of Law Initiative Council; and a member of the American Law Institute. She is a member of the California State Bar Task Force on Lawyer Support for Legal Services. She was previously chair of the ABA Commission on Domestic Violence and vice-chair of the East Bay Community Law Center. She has served on the advisory boards of the ABA Center for Human Rights and ABA DirectWomen. Ms. Stein is a director of Franklin Resources, Inc. (a global investment management organization known as Franklin Templeton Investments). She holds a B.A. and M.A. from Dartmouth College and earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School. “Ms. Stein represents the values we promote at Equal Justice Works,” said David Stern, Chief Executive Officer of Equal Justice Works. “She has maintained a commitment to public interest work while flourishing in her corporate career.” Ms. Stein joins several other leaders in the national legal community on the Equal Justice Works board of directors. - end -
