NEWSWEEK.COM AND EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS PRESENT
THE E-GUIDE TO PUBLIC SERVICE AT AMERICA'S LAW SCHOOLS

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 14, 2006) — Newsweek.com and Equal Justice Works, a nonprofit public interest law organization, are partnering to provide The E-Guide to Public Service at America's Law Schools — a new free online resource that provides a broad range of information about public interest programs and curriculum at law schools. Newsweek.com hosts The E-Guide at http://ejw.newsweek.com. Research and content are provided by Equal Justice Works. The E-Guide aims to assist public service oriented applicants in making more informed choices about which law school to attend.

To mark the launch of The E-Guide, the August 21 issue of Newsweek features an excerpt of an essay by Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) on the importance of public service in a law career. The complete essay, "When You Come to a Fork in the Road...," is featured in The E-Guide.

The E-Guide fills a substantial information void about the culture of public service at the nation's law schools. It provides comparable information on key factors such as the amount of staff dedicated to administering public service programs and the availability of loan repayment assistance programs for graduates who enter public service. Without resorting to rankings or ratings, The E-Guide presents information in an easy-to-digest and accessible format, highlighting such areas as public interest curriculum, debt load and career placement.

"By providing a unique, comprehensive look at public interest law programs, we're helping the entire legal community to view public interest law as an important part of a complete legal education," said David Stern, Chief Executive Officer of Equal Justice Works. "Newsweek.com is a vital partner in the quest to expand and improve public service programs in our nation's law schools."

"We're pleased to make The E-Guide to Public Service at America's Law Schools available to law school applicants and the general public through our partnership with Equal Justice Works," said Deidre Depke, Editor of Newsweek.com. "This is an important resource and will be an excellent complement to the breaking news, features and interactive services already offered on our site."

More than 115 law schools are participating in the project in The E-Guide's inaugural year. The E-Guide supplies the law schools with the information they need to expand, improve and protect their programs. The schools also have the option of providing web links to additional information.
