The Montana Legal Services Association has three Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellows working on the following projects:

• Self-Help Law Project and Helpline: This Legal Fellow works with MLSA’s Self-Help Law Project and Helpline to develop, coordinate and deliver self-help and community education programs to low-income people throughout
  Montana. The legal fellow works with law students and pro bono attorneys to create self-help projects, work on help lines, interview clients, fundraise and conduct outreach and clinics in various substantive areas of law including housing, consumer and family law.
• Indian Wills Project: This Legal Fellow works with law students and pro bono attorneys to develop resources for creating wills and other estate planning documents for residents of
  Montana’s seven Indian reservations. The AmeriCorps Legal Fellow works with law schools to recruit and training law student volunteers, work with MLSA staff on Indian law projects, provide referrals and support and training to volunteer attorneys, and develop community education and pro se materials
• Housing: This Legal Fellow works with MLSA’s Housing Specialist to address the housing issues of
  Montana’s low-income population. The Fellow works to develop and implement a recruitment and support strategy for engaging law students in pro bono housing work.

Each AmeriCorps Legal Fellow carries a small caseload to gain direct service experience, and provide advice and brief services to clients.
