The Path to Public Interest: Career Fair and Conferences
Equal Justice Works holds an annual Career Fair and Conference in the fall. It is the largest public-interest career fair of its kind and attracts more than 150 employers and 1,000 students and graduates from across the country. It provides a unique opportunity for law students and law graduates and employers to meet and interview in a single location. Last year the conference offered sessions throughout the two-day event on topics such as careers in employment law, children’s law, consumer law, environmental law and disability law, and such issues as how to effectively work in the community, how to finance a public interest career and how to conduct your public interest job search.
Start planning to attend now and check the Equal Justice Works Calendar of Events for updated information. Career Services can help you locate other career fairs around the country. Other regional conferences include the Greater Washington, DC/Baltimore Public Service Career Fair, the Northwest Public Service Career Fair, the Rebellious Lawyers Conference, the Rocky Mountain Government/Public Interest Career Fair, and the Annual Trina Grillo Public Interest & Social Justice Law Retreat. Some of these events are held at a different city within that region every year.
Career fairs and conferences are extremely valuable in landing job and informational interviews, networking with other people in the field and exploring new geographical areas.
