The Path to Public Interest: Public Interest Organizations on Campus
Getting involved with public interest organizations on campus can greatly help your future career in public interest. By being active in these organizations, you will work toward an important cause, while meeting other students, faculty, administration and community organizations with similar interests. In addition to providing you with many professional experiences ranging from outreach efforts and teaching to leadership skills and workplace knowledge, public interest organizations also offer important networking possibilities through organizations’ alumni and their national networks.
Planning is an essential step in developing student public interest organizations, as described in the Organize Your Campus section of our website. Through planning, you will value a diverse culture within your organization with varying ideas and perspectives, build partnerships with other organizations and produce successful fundraising efforts to sustain the organization’s mission.
