Angelica Conway-Simmons is the human resources (HR) manager at Equal Justice Works, where she is responsible for partnering with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs and strategy, coordinating employee onboarding, facilitating bi-weekly processing of payroll, and providing support to staff members in various HR-related topics.
With more than five years of working with companies of all sizes across the United States, Angelica is known for seeing the ‘big picture.’ Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in aligning company priorities with individual employee’s goals to ensure organizational success.
Angelica is a champion of people and culture and prides herself on improving the employee experience. She has maintained a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in her career and believes that keeping DEI at the forefront improves interpersonal relationships and drives productivity and belongingness in the workplace.
Before joining Equal Justice Works, Angelica was a part of the HR team at Audacious Inquiry (Ai), where she focused on process improvement, training and development, recruiting, onboarding, and improving the HR function. While at Ai, Angelica helped to create the company’s podcast for employees to share their subject matter expertise, and regularly contributed to the organization’s blog.
In addition to her work at Ai, Angelica has served in HR positions at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Argus Eagle, and Ford Amphitheater. Aside from her HR work, Angelica is passionate about trying new recipes, traveling, and reading about organizational development.
Angelica earned her B.A. in Psychology from St. John’s University in New York, and her M.S. in Human Resource Development from Towson University.
