April Hewko is a program manager at Equal Justice Works, where she focuses on the organization’s Disaster Recovery Legal Corps.
April Hewko joins the organization with seven years of experience managing and supporting staff and grant-funded programs. April worked at the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) from 2012- 2019 supporting and managing offices and programs in Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and Moldova. These programs primarily focused on refugee and displaced persons’ rights, accessible legal aid, and legal and human rights education and capacity development for law students, lawyers, and the public. April has also interned at Amnesty International U.S.A., the Florida House of Representatives, and spent time in South Africa supporting marine and great white shark research projects.
April is a graduate of Florida State University, where she majored in international affairs, with concentrated studies in political science, anthropology, and human rights.
