AmeriCorps VISTA

Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps VISTA programs mobilize Fellows and Community Advocates/Organizers for a one-year term to help preserve affordable housing and bring individuals and communities out of poverty.

Equal Justice Works sponsors two AmeriCorps VISTA programs:

  • VISTA Affordable Housing Preservation Project (VAHPP) focuses on preserving, maintaining, and improving Project-Based Section 8 housing across the country.
  • VISTA Tenant Engagement and Community Economic Development Project (TECDev) aims to address the needs of tenants who live in Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Component I properties. Fellows and Community Advocates help tenants advocate on issues related to housing, education, employment, crime prevention, public health, youth development, and other areas.

AmeriCorps VISTA programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Applications for AmeriCorps VISTA are no longer being accepted. You can find a list of organizations currently hosting VISTA Fellows and Community Advocates/Organizers below.
