The Project

Just as a physician might write a drug prescription for a patient, so might she prescribe legal resources through a Medical-Legal Partnership. I will be working with the medical team at two Sea Mar Community Health Centers in King County, Washington to serve their primarily immigrant patient population. By training medical providers to screen for legal issues, I will set up a referral network through which Sea Mar staff can help their patients resolve legal problems. Working in this collaborative setting will both empower patients to advocate for themselves and improve health outcomes by reducing the impact of stress, environmental harms, or abusive relationships.
