The Project

Jamie provided direct legal services to low-income and elderly people affected by the devastating tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri in May 2011. The legal problems experienced by these clients were wide-ranging, and included landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosure and other mortgage-related problems, deed disputes, consumer debt, domestic violence and guardianship actions. Because so much of the community was affected, the project emphasized “know your rights” seminars and other community outreach. The project also increased awareness of volunteer opportunities by recruiting pro bono attorneys, law students, and paralegals.

I believe your financial resources should never dictate your access to the legal system.
