The Project

Low Income Tax Clinics are funded by grants from the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They exist to help low income people deal with controversies they have with the IRS. These controversies can range from getting levies and collection activities stopped to litigating whether the tax is even owed. We also handle state tax issues that are ancillary to the taxpayer’s federal issues. Our particular clinic is housed at AppalReD Legal Aid. AppalReD’s coverage area includes most of eastern Kentucky, so most of our clients come from that area.
