The Project

Paola Gentile-Goldental provided legal representation to minors in immigration removal proceedings, including in cases involving asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and other forms of relief.

This project is aimed at protecting children who arrive in the U.S. alone and who, in many cases, are fleeing poverty and violence from which their home countries cannot protect them. As no legal representation for these children is mandated, this project seeks to address this need so they can have a much better chance of having their stories heard and their claims advanced.

Fellowship Highlights

During Paola’s Fellowship, Paola Gentile-Goldental:

  • Continued working representing children in removal proceedings
  • Advocated for the rights of those children who seek safety and need help navigating the complex immigration laws and proceedings
  • Built partnerships with law firms to enable them to represent the children in their state court proceedings
