The Project

Skyler’s (she/her/hers) project will focus on disaster-related advocacy and litigation. As the fellow for Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, her goal is to help limit wrongful evictions, educate the community about legal services and the need thereof, and provide long-term solutions to issues plaguing our communities.

Skyler’s project focuses on providing sustainable housing and preventing evictions. Due to COVID-19, Louisiana is facing an eviction crisis. As a hurricane-prone area, Skyler’s project also focuses on overall housing issues and ensuring citizens are aware of their rights.

Skyler pursued public interest work because she wanted to be able to make a difference and educate her community. Skyler is the right fit for a Disaster Resiliece Program Fellowship because she is resilient, resourceful, and has a passion for people.
