The Project

Stephanie prevented and remedied instances of elder abuse. In particular, the project focuses on conservatorships and restraining orders.

According to the National Council on Aging, approximately 1 in 10 Americans over the age of 60 have experienced some form of elder abuse. Some statistics estimate that as much as 5 million elders are abused each year and that only 1 in 14 cases of abuse are reported to authorities. Because of the wide spread nature of abuse against the elderly and the fact that many cases of abuse are unreported, it is vital to utilize community education and outreach as tools in preventing elder abuse.
