The Project

As an Employment Opportunity Legal Corps (EOLC) Fellow, Therese removed legal barriers to employment. Specifically, at LAF, Therese coordinated operations of the Woodlawn Legal Clinic, which connects pro bono attorneys to residents of an impoverished Chicago neighborhood. The Clinic will have a particular focus on screening for and addressing needs for criminal records expungement or sealing. Also, Therese organized juvenile expungement clinics within the Chicago Public Schools, targeting alternative high schools in high-crime areas and/or adults aged 18-30.

Therese removed legal barriers to employment with a particular focus on sealing and expungement of criminal records that otherwise prevent employment.

As a former teacher, I am committed to using the law to help youth access education and employment. This motivates my current work in juvenile and criminal records expungement,
