The Project

My project seeks to change New Mexico's Workers' Compensation Act so that it will include mandatory coverage for agricultural workers. Currently, these workers are excluded from mandatory coverage so when they are injured at work there is very little recourse. Their families are often already living well below the poverty line and when someone is injured or disabled the whole family suffers. I am seeking to change the law through a combination of efforts including legislative work and legal advocacy.
