Crime Victims Justice Corps

Crime victims face many challenges in fully accessing their legal rights and receiving comprehensive legal services. Lead the charge to help close the gaps in the provision of legal services to victims of crime by teaming up with a cohort of law students and lawyers.

The Crime Victims Justice Corps (CVJC) mobilizes more than 60 Fellows and 30 law students across the country to deliver civil legal assistance and enforce the rights of crime victims. CVJC Fellows focus on serving survivors of campus sexual assault, hate crimes, fraud, identity theft, as well as immigrant victims of crime.

Law students work alongside Fellows during the summer at legal services organizations to help provide civil legal services to address issues arising from crime victimization, including family law, education, and employment, as well as providing outreach and training to community partners. Law students are required to serve for a period of eight to ten weeks and earn a stipend upon successful completion of service.

CVJC is open to current law students enrolled in law school. Law students must apply directly to the legal services organization of their choice. You can find a list of organizations interested in hosting CJVC law students below.

This program is supported by an $8.8 million award from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office for Victims of Crime, Award Number 2017-MU-MU-K131, and private funding.
