Equal Justice Works Now Accepting Host Organization Applications for Its Financial Empowerment Project 

Application Due: Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET 

Equal Justice Works is pleased to invite eligible organizations to apply to host a Fellow in the 2026 cohort of the Financial Empowerment Project. This innovative project – developed in partnership with the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund – will embed attorney Fellows in Financial Empowerment Centers (FECs) to deliver free legal services focused on legacy planning and intergenerational wealth transfer. 

Fellows will work alongside financial counselors to help low-income clients access legal tools such as wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives, with the goal of building financial stability and narrowing the racial wealth gap.  

Organizations providing direct legal services in the following jurisdictions are encouraged to apply: Allegheny County, PA (including Pittsburgh, PA)Baltimore City, MD; Charleston, SC; Detroit, MI; Gaithersburg, MD; Greenville, SC; Lansing, MI; Milwaukee, WI; Rochester, NY; Sacramento, CA; San Francisco, CA; and Tulsa, OK.

Host organizations may propose to host up to two full-time Fellows, who will serve for two years beginning no earlier than September 1, 2026.

Interested host organizations must submit their proposals via the online application form  by ThursdayApril 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Applications will be evaluated competitively. Host organizations must meet all eligibility requirements listed in the Full Request for Proposals (RFP).
