Each year, Equal Justice Works recognizes a leader in the legal community whose work exemplifies a high-level commitment to public service and a passion for equal justice. On October 24, 2019, supporters from the legal community will gather at the Equal Justice Works Annual Dinner to join us as we present the Scales of Justice Award to David Zapolsky, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Amazon.

“We are proud to honor David Zapolsky with our 2019 Scales of Justice Award for his exceptional dedication to pro bono and public service,” said David Stern, Executive Director at Equal Justice Works. “He is an inspiring leader who has set a strong example for his colleagues at Amazon on how lawyers and legal professionals can apply their skills and knowledge to make a difference in people’s lives.”

During his tenure at Amazon, David has created a culture of pro bono, offering many ways for Amazon’s legal team to serve communities around the world. He established Amazon Justice League to enable legal department members to serve across a variety of issue areas, from providing immigration assistance to resolving landlord-tenant disputes to drafting wills for first responders, and more. Under David’s guidance, Amazon’s legal department has contributed to effective pro bono service and demonstrated its commitment in helping to fulfill our nation’s promise of equal justice for all.

We hope you will join us this fall as we celebrate David’s extraordinary dedication to improving equal access to justice for individuals and communities in need. More information about the Equal Justice Works 2019 Annual Dinner can be found here.
